NOW I'M FINE, the life's work of comedian and composer Ahamefule J. Oluo, is simultaneously a ten-movement experimental pop opera for 17 piece orchestra and a long-form comedic storytelling piece. Oluo delivers dark, blistering monologues about a profound period of illness, despair, and regeneration in his life, seamlessly interwoven with original music written during the traumatic events described. The scale of the piece is both epic and intimate—ranging from one man reliving quiet, private pains alone in a spotlight to a wall of brass and harp and voice and drums. The show includes such Seattle luminaries as Samantha Boshnack, Evan Flory-Barnes, Naomi Siegel, D’Vonne Lewis, and many others, as well as lyrics and virtuosic vocals by the incomparable okanomodé SoulChilde.

“Ahamefule J. Oluo may have just discovered a new art form. Call it standup-big band-autobiography. Or what a collaboration between Duke Ellington, Spalding Gray and Sun Ra might have been like.”
- Misha Berson, The Seattle Times

“In 12 years of cultural criticism I’ve never before used the term ‘tour de force.’ Now I’m Fine is a tour de force”
- Jonathan Zwickel, City Arts Magazine
